21–25 MARCH 2027 — SALOU, SPAIN
COSTA DAURADA SPRING CUP 2027
AGES U9–U20 · GIRLS & BOYS
THE TRIP
The Costa Daurada Spring Cup runs from 21 to 25 March 2027, based in Salou on Catalonia's Costa Daurada coast. It is a tournament for boys' and girls' teams across a run of age groups, from the youngest school-age sides up to the oldest girls' category.
Matches are played at the Futbol Salou Sports Center, with finals held at the Nou Estadi Costa Daurada nearby — both inside the same Salou base. Every team is guaranteed a minimum of four matches: a group stage of four, played round robin, followed by a knockout phase split into Gold, Silver and Bronze tiers, so no squad is finished after the groups. Eleven-a-side matches run two 25-minute halves; seven-a-side matches run two 20-minute halves.
Boys' categories run from the youngest school-age sides up to Under-19; girls' categories run from the youngest up to an oldest band that is effectively open-age. Girls may also play up in the boys' categories, up to and including the Under-16 age group, where a club prefers a mixed squad — see the age table for the exact birth-year cutoffs and formats.
Reus Airport is the shortest route in, about fifteen minutes from Salou by road. Barcelona Airport is the bigger alternative if flight times or fares work out better, at around an hour to an hour and a half by road. A coach-and-ferry run from the UK is the best part of two days' driving each way, so flying is how clubs get to this one — Revel meets the group at the airport and handles everything from there.

RELAXING
RELAXING
Cambrils beaches, harbour and promenade
Cambrils sits right next to Salou, with around nine kilometres of coastline across several named beaches, a working harbour and a long seafront promenade. It makes an easy spare-afternoon option with no long transfer.
Salou beaches and old town
The tournament's own base town has beaches and a seafront promenade within walking distance of team hotels. No transport is needed, which makes it the simplest option on a short break between matches.
Tarragona old town and beaches
Tarragona's own beaches carry Blue Flag status, and the old town holds a twelfth-century cathedral and a run of historic plazas. It combines easily with a Roman-sites visit in the same half day, or stands alone as a beach afternoon.
WATERSPORT
WATERSPORT
PortAventura Caribe Aquatic Park
A water park next to the main PortAventura site, with sixteen slides and attractions spread across the grounds. It suits a half day or a full day depending on how the squad wants to split the visit.
CULTURAL TOURS
CULTURAL TOURS
Tarragona Roman remains
A UNESCO World Heritage site about ten minutes from Salou, taking in a second-century amphitheatre, a Roman circus, the Les Ferreres Aqueduct and the old city walls. It is a half-day history visit that suits a squad of any age.
DAYS OUT
DAYS OUT
A free morning or afternoon can easily carry a day out, built into your itinerary.
Barcelona city day trip
Barcelona is around a hundred kilometres from Salou, close to two hours by road, which makes it a full-day trip rather than a spare afternoon. It is the option for a squad that wants a city day away from the coast.
Ferrari Land
A second theme park right next to PortAventura's main entrance, built around Italian and Ferrari themes with racing simulators and rides. Half a day covers it, or pair it with PortAventura Park for a full day at the same site.
PortAventura Park
A theme park across five themed zones plus a Sesame Street area, with rollercoasters and family rides to fill a full day. It sits in Salou/Vila-seca, close to the tournament base, so no long transfer eats into the day.

THE FORMAT
HOW THE FOOTBALL
WORKS
Boys' categories run from Under-9 up to Under-19; girls' categories run from Under-10 up to an oldest band (G20) that is effectively open-age, since it takes any player born in 2007 or earlier with no upper limit. Girls may also enter the boys' categories, up to and including the Under-16 age group, where a club prefers to field a mixed squad — see the table above for the exact birth-year cutoff and format for each category.
Every category is set by birth year rather than by UK/Irish school year, so a squad picked on the usual 1 September school-year cutoff will not map cleanly onto these bands — check the table against your squad list before you enter, and talk to us if it splits a group.
The group stage is four teams playing round robin, and every team is guaranteed at least four matches. After the groups, a knockout phase splits into Gold, Silver and Bronze tiers so every squad keeps playing meaningful games rather than being eliminated outright. Eleven-a-side matches are two 25-minute halves; seven-a-side matches are two 20-minute halves.
| AGE GROUP | BORN | FORMAT |
|---|---|---|
| Boys B19 | 2008 or later | 11-a-side |
| Boys B16 | 2011 | 11-a-side |
| Boys B15 | 2012 | 11-a-side |
| Boys B14 | 2013 | 11-a-side |
| Boys B13 | 2014 | 11-a-side |
| Boys B12 | 2015 or later | 7-a-side |
| Boys B11 | 2016 or later | 7-a-side |
| Boys B10 | 2017 or later | 7-a-side |
| Boys B09 | 2018 or later | 7-a-side |
| Girls G20 | 2007 or later | 11-a-side |

| Girls G16 | 2011 or later | 11-a-side |
| Girls G14 | 2013 or later | 11-a-side or 7-a-side |
| Girls G12 | 2015 or later | 7-a-side |
