PASSPORTS —
READ THIS FIRST
From Monday 28 September 2026, Stena Line and Irish Ferries will require a valid passport, or an Irish passport card, for every passenger of any age on Dublin–Holyhead and on Rosslare–Fishguard and Rosslare–Pembroke. Birth certificates and driving licences will no longer be accepted. The Belfast routes are unchanged.
- Check every passport's expiry now — the adults' as well as the players'.
- An Irish passport card counts, and it is quicker and cheaper than a book.
- Apply by January. Spring renewals run long, and a squad travels at the pace of its slowest passport.
- A player who is neither Irish nor British will also need a UK ETA before travelling.
THE JOURNEY
OFF THE FERRY, INTO THE PARK

The coach collects the squad at the clubhouse and heads for the port. Nobody books a crossing, nobody drives, nobody counts cars.

THE CROSSING
Dublin to Holyhead is the sailing most clubs travel on, and the coach crosses with you rather than meeting you on the far side.

AN HOUR TO THE PARK
Off at Holyhead, the North Wales coast is about an hour away. You are on the park in time for Friday evening.
Clubs in the south can travel Rosslare to Fishguard instead. It is the closer port for the south east and a longer drive once you are in Wales — tell us where the club is based and we will quote the route that suits you.
THE WHOLE TRAVELLING PARTY
WHOLE CLUB, ONE COACH,
NOBODY SPLIT UP
Bring one squad or bring the whole underage soccer section. Players, siblings and parents travel on the same coach and stay on the same park, and that coach stays with you all weekend for the runs between the park and the pitches. No convoy, no family left working out its own way there.
Group games on the Saturday. Sunday is seeded from Saturday's results, with medals and trophies presented at the finals. The evenings on the park are put on for the whole travelling party, not just the squads.

Plenty of clubs do. If you are making your own way over, you want the UK package — the stay and the festival entry, without the coach and the crossing. It is priced on the tournament page.

PERMISSION & PAPERWORK
A squad travelling out of the country needs permission, and it is not ours to give — it is the club's to obtain, under SFAI Rule 28. It is straightforward, but it is not quick, so start it when the club commits rather than when it packs.

The club's Honorary Secretary starts the request.

Your league confirms the club is in good standing and stamps the form.
- 3 · SFAI
The request reaches the SFAI at least 21 days before you travel — 60 days for a newly formed squad.
- 4 · FAI
The completed permission form goes to permission@fai.ie carrying both the league and affiliate stamps.
The forms and the current wording live with the FAI; the permission address is permission@fai.ie. We will fill in the tournament details for you — ask on WhatsApp and we will send the dates, the venue and the organiser details in the form the SFAI wants them.
SAFEGUARDING
FOR YOUR CHILDREN'S OFFICER
Ratios
The FAI's Child Welfare and Safeguarding Policy sets them: one adult to eight players under 12, one to ten over 12. Build the travelling party around that number, not the other way round.
Rooms
No adult shares a room with a child. Units are allocated so that the club's own room plan holds, and we work it through with you before anything is confirmed.
Who supervises
Your club's own vetted adults, throughout, under a named head of delegation. Revel's staff are on site all weekend and hold UK checks — they run the tournament and the park, they do not supervise your squad.
Paperwork
A trip risk-assessment template is available on request. Tell your club's insurer about the trip before you travel, and remember travel insurance is a condition of booking for everyone in the party.
PAYING FOR IT
FUNDRAISING & PAYING
A deposit at the point the club commits, then the balance ahead of travel — the balance date is set out on your quote and on each family's booking, so nobody is guessing.
Every family books and pays for itself through its own link. Irish families can pay by card, by SEPA transfer or by Revolut. The organiser never handles the money, never chases it, and is never left carrying a shortfall for a family who dropped out.

FROM NORTHERN IRELAND
BELFAST AND NEWRY — NOTHING CHANGES
Wales is a domestic trip from the North, and the passport change above does not touch the Belfast routes. We pick up from Belfast and Newry, and clubs travelling from Northern Ireland are quoted in sterling. Message us with your numbers and we will price it.

QUESTIONS IRISH CLUBS ASK
- How long is the crossing?
- Dublin to Holyhead is the sailing most clubs travel on; Rosslare to Fishguard is the southern alternative, with a longer drive at the Welsh end. Your coach is on the same sailing as the squad, so nobody is left waiting at either port. The exact sailing is confirmed with your booking.
- Do the parents travel on the coach?
- Yes. The coach is for the whole travelling party — players, siblings and parents — and everyone stays on the same park. It is the same coach out, back, and between the park and the pitches all weekend.
- Can we take more than one age group?
- Yes, and most clubs do. The tournament runs U7–U16, with girls' sections as well as boys', and age groups play at staggered times across the two days, so a club travelling with several squads is not trying to be in three places at once.
- What if a child has no passport?
- They will need one. From 28 September 2026 the Dublin and Rosslare routes will accept only a valid passport or an Irish passport card, for every passenger of any age. Apply as soon as the squad is confirmed — renewals run long in the spring. A player who is neither Irish nor British also needs a UK ETA.
- Who supervises the children?
- Your club's own vetted adults, to the FAI's ratios of one adult to eight players under 12 and one to ten over 12, with a named head of delegation. Revel's staff are on site all weekend and hold UK checks, but they are there to run the tournament and the park — they do not replace your club's supervision.
- Can we pay in euro?
- Yes. Irish clubs are quoted per person in euro and pay in it. Clubs travelling from Northern Ireland are quoted in sterling.
- When do we have to commit?
- As early as you can. The coast parks sell out before the football does, and the SFAI needs your permission request at least 21 days before you travel — 60 days for a newly formed squad. Tell us your numbers and we will hold what you need while the club decides.
